While I know we are all crossing our fingers for an early spring, the truth is winter seems to be hanging around the Midwest for a while longer yet. I'm all about reading seasonally and that's something I also like to apply to my classroom as well. I like to pick out novels that correspond with the time of year. There is nothing like reading about winter and then looking out the window to see fat snowflakes falling down. Here are my favorite novels to teach in the winter:

World traveling is one of my favorite hobbies. Having both studied and lived abroad, I've had the opportunity to visit 14 different countries and make so many of my own adventures. Settling down to a job has been a hard transition for me, so I work to make sure that my travels are never behind me. I bring them into my classroom every day!

Hi!
My name is Megan and I am a high school English teacher. Just writing that gives me a thrill! I've almost finished two years of teaching, but yet I still get a little wave of excitement that I am living my dream. I've always wanted to teach literature, inspire creativity, and make a difference in students' lives. And I'm doing it!!!

Here a few quick facts about me:
  • So far I've taught British Literature, American Literature, Speech, and Mythology. British Literature is definitely my favorite class to teach! I've taught sophomores, juniors, and seniors- both honors and regular students.
  • I sponsor my school's Student Government. I love growing student's leadership skills and seeing all they can give back to their school.
  • I also co-direct my school's play. I was a theater kid (and dance kid and choir kid) in high school, so it feel very "me" to be back in the theater again.
  • I've lived abroad in France and Ireland. I absolutely love to travel and I am always planning out my trips to new places.
  • In my spare time, I love reading books, doing yoga, and working on the novel I'm writing.

I am really excited to share some of my teaching ideas, resources, and personal reflections here! Can't wait to have you along for my journey.
